The B Humane program, one of the B Signature Elements available at B hotels, is designed to increase awareness of endangered species native to the destination. Each hotel spotlights a plush stuffed animal as an in-room signature gift to welcome newly arriving guests. The plush toy is available for "adoption" (i.e. purchase) from the room, gift shop or Front Desk, with a portion of the proceeds going towards the promotion of wildlife protection efforts.
For information about the animals represented at each B hotel and the B Cause it supports, please read below.
B Resort & Spa
Found throughout northern and central Florida, and in upland areas near the coast of southern Florida, the gopher frog is listed as a species of special concern in Florida. It primarily inhabits sandhills, dry hammocks and scrubs, far from its wetland breeding grounds. Due to the loss of habitat and fire suppression, the gopher frog is very rare in its traditional southern range.
A portion of all proceeds from the B Humane program at B Resort & Spa go to the Wildlife Foundation of Florida, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing assistance, funding and promotional support to contribute to the health and well-being of Florida's fish and wildlife resources and their habitats.
B Ocean Resort Fort Lauderdale
Sea turtles, a marine reptile, are one of the planet's most ancient creatures - they have been around since the time when dinosaurs roamed over 110 million years ago. Today, seven different species of sea turtles live throughout the world with each species classified as either threatened or endangered. The Green Sea Turtles lay over 1,000 nests annually on Broward County's beaches from April through September. Greater Fort Lauderdale's coastal residents and beach visitors can help sea turtles during the nesting season by keeping beaches clean, being aware of nesting sites, and reducing artificial lighting near beaches. Sea turtle hatchlings use light and reflections from the moon to find their way to the water at night, so we reduce ambient light during these months so that we don't distract and confuse mothers and hatchlings.
A portion of all proceeds from the B Humane program at B Ocean Resort go to the Sea Turtle Conservancy, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to ensure the survival of sea turtles within the Caribbean, Atlantic and Pacific through research, education, training, advocacy and protection of the natural habitats upon which they depend.
